Wines from Spain Awards 2015

We were thrilled that Bodegas Gordonzello’s Peregrino Rosado 2014 won the “Best Rosado” in Wines from Spain Awards this year. We also entered Peregrino Albarín 2014 and this wine was also selected in the Top 100 wines. We are the only importer of these wines in the UK.

600 wines were “blind” tasted by expert panels, including several Masters of Wine, chaired by Tim Atkin MW. The panels selected the Top 100 wines. The wines which excel within their category are awarded “best” status.

We were invited to attend the Reception at the Spanish Embassy in November to receive the Certificate for “The Best Rosado”. What is Chrissy saying to the Spanish Ambassador?

Peregrino Rosado 2014 has now sold out, but there are a few bottles left of Peregrino Albarín 2014 left – so get in quick!

Peregrino Albarín is an aromatic dry white wine, with peach and apple aromas. It is packed full of apricot and tropical fruit with a tangy finish and excellent length. This is a must-try wine. It is brilliant with fish, especially oily fish like salmon, mackerel and sardines. It will also partner chicken and mild oriental dishes. It makes a good aperitif with nibbles and it is excellent value.

Albarín is a rare grape confined to the Leon and Asturias areas of Spain; there are only about 100 hectares planted in total, of which Bodegas Gordonzello have around 6 hectares within their 200 hectares estate. This varietal was almost lost but has been revived by some growers in this area and it is becoming increasingly popular. We are delighted that this really good example of Albarín has been recognised with this Award.
