About the Winemakers

Established in 2001, Bodegas del Medievo is an exciting, innovative winery in Aldeanueva de Ebro 50km South of Logrono, just in Rioja Oriental. The Rioja Oriental has more of a mediterranean climate, as compared with Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, but as the vineyards of Bodegas Medievo are situated at 600 metres the climate is favourable for a range of grapes from Tempranillo to Graciano, as well as Garnacha which is widely grown in Rioja Oriental.

The vineyards are situated on the fringes of Mount Yerga, 600 metres above sea level which provides optimal conditions for the cultivation of healthy grapes. Joseba and Santiago, viticulturist and winemaker respectively set up this Bodega to produced high quality wines that offer great value. The vineyards have been family run for generations. From their young wines like this Medievo Roble through to Tuerce Botas Graciano Crianza, their wines have the hallmark of quality throughout. Their impressive maturing cellar of 1000 square metres, has 2500 American and French oak barrels.
