Albourne Estate has just under 11 hectares (30 acres) in gently rolling hills, near Hassocks in West Sussex, with stunning views to the Devils Dyke. The vineyards were planted in 2010 when Alison Nightingale finally found the site she had been looking for which ticked all the boxes to provide excellent drainage, low frost risk and maximum sun exposure, critical factors in achieving successful vine growth and grape ripeness at this northerly latitude. 2013 was their first vintage; this was followed by the warmer and excellent 2014 vintage. 2017 was the most difficult of recent vintages with very late frosts which scorched a lot of the first buds, followed by on/off summer weather. 2018 was a stunning English vintage with near perfect weather from bud burst, through the important flowering and setting periods and finally during the run up to the harvest. It was a bumper year, both in quality of the fruit and quantity. This is the sort of vintage in a half-century, that makes up for the many marginal years!
The striking labels feature wildlife that are regularly seen in the Albourne Estate and are painted by a local artist, Louise Body.

This is a special Bacchus with a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel and notable aromatic complexity. The diversity of aromas range from herbal (tomato leaf, basil, sage, nettle, asparagus) to citrus with lime and grapefruit and finally medlar, passion fruit and elderflower. it is a complex, enigmatic and distinctive Bacchus and if you enjoy fine Sauvignon Blancs like Sancerre, you will enjoy this wine.
This is the still version of their wonderful Blanc de Noirs sparkling wine – a white wine made from red grapes! It has a delightful pale onion-skin hue and is intense and forward on the nose with notes of pomegranate, red cherry and mulberry. In the mouth, the wine is smooth and exceptionally well balanced with a perfect level of acidity and notable minerality. Great on its own or with food.
A vibrant and youthful style of Chardonnay with minimal oak influence, this wine is fresh and light with a pleasing texture on the palate and distinctive minerality. With notable aromas of green apple and lemon zest on the nose. This is a classic example of a winemaking style with ‘light oak touch’ in a cool-climate Chardonnay.
Delicious for food pairing and will age well. Great with grilled fish, risottos and creamy pasta dishes. This wine was released in 2024 and is still drinking beautifully. A full-flavoured wine at 11% abv
