TSW (Trizanne Signature Wines) Syrah is a refined, poised and complex wine. The inviting aromas of ripe and fresh blackcurrants and red berries, coupled with spice, black pepper and hints of cardamom are just the start. The palate is elegant, smooth and enigmatic. There is abundant blackcurrant and red fruit which is laced in fine grained tannins. The flavours keep building in the mouth, providing a lovely concentration and complexity without being heavy. This is a very refined and delicious Syrah which is similar to a top-end Rhone style wine. It is perfectly balanced with excellent length.
Trizanne is one of the new, young, highly respected winemakers in South Africa who do not own vineyards, but sources and selects vineyard parcels where she can direct the process from grape growing through to making the wines. The grapes for this wine comes from 17 year old vineyards in Swartland, where the summers are hot and dry with colder, wet winters. This Mediterranean cllmate and the soils of this area are perfect for Syrah and Grenache, producing low yields of small but intensely flavoured berries. After the primary fermentation, it spends an extended maceration of a further 2 weeks and is aged in 500 litre French oak barrels for 11 months.

Trizanne Barnard graduated from Stellenbosch University with a degree in viticulture and enology, and then worked in Australia, Portugal and France, gaining experience of very different climates, grapes and vintages. She returned to South Africa in 20014 and worked for one of the famous wineries Klein Constancia. In 2008 she established her own brand of TSW Wines, focusing on grapes grown in two very diverse wine regions – Elim (where she makes Sauvignon Blanc) and – Swartland (where she makes wines from mainly Syrah & Grenache).
A popular new find to our portfolio in 2018; a relatively small production wine as only 6500 bottles of this wine were produced.
