Prado Rey Verdejo returns to our portfolio with 2017 stunning vintage. It is an elegant and intensely aromatic and full-flavoured Verdejo. Aromas leap out of the glass – exotic tropical fruits combine with herbal hints. The flavours are equally intense and complex, with grapefruit, pineapple and lychees at the forefront. This is a refined and elegant Verdejo; it is zingy yet smooth, well-balanced and very long. Verdejo is such an expressive grape and can be likened to a Sauvignon Blanc with a tropical twist and a little more texture.
If you have never tried Verdejo before, this high quality varietal expression a must. The grapes are night harvested and in the winemaking process, the Bodega has used the Boreal system which involves cooling of the grape pulp with CO2 at the start of fermentation. This increases oxidation resistance and brings out the fresh aromas of the grapes. This wine has spent 3 months on its lees, giving the wine its full flavours and length. Made by Bodegas Prado Rey who mainly make red wines in the Ribera del Duero, but now make some excellent white wines like this Verdejo.
