Peregrino Rosado 2016 is just as good as the 2014 vintage which won “Best Rosado” in Wines from Spain Awards 2015! Red wine drinkers who think that Rosé is not for them, should try this wine!
This wine is now bin-ended to make room for new vintages – it is a stunning bargain and still drinking well – and we would recommend drinking it by the end of this summer.
This is good to drink all-year round! Vibrant strawberry and raspberry flavours on the nose and palate. A dry, intensely flavoured and appealing Rosado. Ideal well chilled with a wide range of dishes including oily fish, shellfish, chicken. It is especially good with spicy food like Thai dishes and barbecues. What makes this Rosado so full of flavour is that it is made in the local, traditional “madreo” method, where whole bunches are added to the fermentation process.
Peregrino Rosado is a well-established favourite at Bush Vines, and comes from Bodegas Gordonzello, just South of Leon in NW Spain. Bodegas Gordonzello were formed by a group of wine growers in the 1990s and they make an interesting range of wines including this Rosado, from the local Prieto Picudo grape.
We were thrilled that this wine won BEST ROSADO in Wine from Spain Awards 2015! Wines from Spain Awards:Top 100 is a UK competition that attracts around 900 entries. The wines are blind tasted by panels of experts, many of whom are Masters of Wine (MW), and the panels are chaired by Tim Atkin MW (Chair of the International Wine Challenge) and selected from over 900 entries.
This Rosado also received 90 points in Guia Penin, an independent Spanish Wine Guide. Great wine and great value.
Food match: A terrific match with oriental and Thai food, lightly spicy foods. It is also brilliant with oily fish such as grilled/barbequed mackerel, grilled salmon or fresh tuna.
