Tasting Notes

From Viña Nora’s terraced vineyards overlooking the River Miño, in Galicia, comes this excellent Nora Albariño 2016. Highly aromatic, apricot, pear and honeysuckle notes lead into light peach and melon flavours, with definite minerality and a crisp, citrus finish. This is a classic, elegant Albariño which has excellent structure, good depth of flavours and a long finish.

Viña Nora is one of the leading wineries in Rias Baixas.  They have 16 hectares of mature vineyards (25 year old vines +) near As Neves, a small village in the Condado do Tea area of Rias Baixas. The vineyards are at 600 metres on a natural terraces that descend towards the River. The soil is granite, typical of this region, with stones that radiate the daytime heat into the evening, helping the grapes to fully mature as early as September. The grapes are hand-picked into 16 kilo boxes and taken to the winery, cooled and then hand-selected before careful vinification, it is then aged on its lees for 4 months to fully develop the flavours.

This is a refined, stylish Albariño with excellent length. Small production of only 130,000 bottles annually.  It sells in a few Independent merchants £13.99; treat yourself to Bush Vines competive price of £12.99.

Food match: Perfect with all shellfish, fish and brilliant as an aperitif
