Lopez de Haro Blanco is a classic white Rioja, with aromas of pears, greengages and herbs together with a hint of honeyed oak. The flavours combine greengage, melon, pear with just a hint of vanilla and nutty notes: it finishes with a light citrus uplift. A well-balanced and attractive dry, lightly rounded, yet fresh white wine. It has three months ageing in French oak barrels.
Bodegas Hacienda Lopez de Haro in the Rioja Alta produce this attractive Lopez de Haro Blanco, which is made from the main white grape of Rioja, the Viura. The Bodega is situated in the picturesque hillside of the historic village of San Vincente de la Sonsierra. The vineyards are located in Sonsierra which is sheltered by the Toloño mountain range with the River Ebro to the South. There is just enough wind to provide perfect aeration of the vines; with mild temperatures for most of the year and greater rainfall in the winter months.
“A typically skilful example of modern winemaking; stylish reliable and affordable Rioja, this 100% Viura (some of it very old-vine) is judiciously oaked to bring a hint of creaminess to the succulent, ripe stone fruit. Drink 2021 – 2023” 89 Points: Decanter Recommended : October 2021
