Lopez de Haro Blanco is a classic white Rioja, with aromas of pears, greengages and herbs together with a hint of honeyed oak. The flavours combine greengage, melon, pear with just a hint of vanilla and butter notes: it finishes with a light citrus uplift. A well-balanced and attractive dry, lightly rounded, yet fresh white wine. It has three months ageing in French oak barrels.
Bodegas Classica in the Rioja Alta produce this attractive Lopez de Haro Blanco, which is made from the main white grape of Rioja, the Viura. The Bodega is situated in the picturesque hillside of the historic village of San Vincente de la Sonsierra. The vineyards are located in Sonsierra which is sheltered by the Toloño mountain range with the River Ebro to the South. There is just enough wind to provide perfect aeration of the vines; with mild temperatures for most of the year and greater rainfall in the winter months.
Bodegas Classica work with a network of small scale vine growers who have been working with the Bodega for many years, providing grapes from mature vineyards across Rioja Alta. Their team is led by Raúl Acha, their Director since 2007 and the viticulture and wine-making team are led by Octavio Madurga. They all work very closely with the vine-growers to ensure a consistent, high quality of grapes.
