Dominio de Punctum Sauvignon Blanc joins our list this year! It has a subtle, gentle aromas of pear and stone fruit with hints of newly-cut grass, which lead seamlessly into pear fruit, with a touch of nectarine, litchi and light citrus. A Sauvignon Blanc which has the characteristics of a Loire Sauvignon Blanc, with refreshing acidity and mineral hints. It has a long, smooth finish. This is a surprisingly subtle, dry, refined Sauvignon Blanc at this price.
** Last few bottles of this vintage which is offered as a Bin End as we need to make room for new vintages! **
Dominio de Punctum Sauvignon Blanc is the same high quality our other wines from this fantastic, family-run organic and biodynamic estate in the northern part La Mancha; it represents amazing value. After controlled fermentation in stainless steel, it underwent a malolactic fermentation which has resulted in its smooth finish.
Do organic and biodynamic wines taste better for the price? Yes, we believe they do! This really is a subtle Sauvignon Blanc with developing flavours and good depth of flavour. If you would like to know more about the difference between organic and biodynamic practices, please read our short blog.
About Dominio de Punctum
This wine is made from organically and biodynamicaly grown grapes in the 200 hectare single-estate vineyards at 800 metres near Las Pedroñeras, (around half way between Valenica and Madrid). The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are night-harvested to retain their freshness.
After 8 generations as growers, in 2005 a new generation of the Fernandez family led by Jesus and his sister (and wine-maker) Ruth founded the organic Estate and Winery, together with their sister Cristina (who organised their move to biodynamic farming and is the Finance Director).
With a continental climate and clay, loam soil rich in limestone it is an ideal place to grow quality vines naturally. Dominio de Punctum do not use any synthetic pesticides, herbicides on the soil, or chemicals in the winery, and all their wines have organic status. Biodynamic is a step further; they gained this added status in 2011.
Food match: Terrific aperitif; a very versatile wine which will be excellent with salads, goats cheese, fish and vegetarian dishes.
