Tasting Notes

Chapel Down English Rose is a perfect summer rosé, with aromas of strawberries and cream. It has surprisingly full flavours of strawberries, raspberries and hints of red-currants with a crisp, refreshing finish. This is an elegant rosé with broad appeal; it has excellent balance and great length. The Pinot Noir shines through in the cornucopia of varieties in the blend. It is whole bunch pressed; the majority of its colour comes from Regent grapes rather than time on the skins, giving it light, smooth characteristics and making it effortlessly drinkable!

The grapes come from vineyards in Kent, Sussex and Essex. It is made by England’s leading wine producer Chapel Down, whose growth over the last couple of decades has been a phenomenal success story with Frazer Thompson, their CEO. Josh Donaghay-Spire, head winemaker at Chapel Down has a degree in Viticulture and Enology from Plumpton. When he started his wine studies he was amazed by the amount of complex chemistry behind it. The more he learnt, the more he realised how much he didn’t know. He found it inspiring and he believes that it is fundamental to understand everything from the vineyards through to the chemistry of the fruit and the winemaking itself.

This is a wonderfully balanced rosé which is full-flavoured and refined at the same time. Check out our competitive price (RRP £11.99 – £12.99)
