Casa Defra Rosé is a delightful blush wine which is perfect for the summer. We have introduced this Italian blush wine, made from Pinot Grigio, to our portfolio to provide more variety in our Rosé choices. All our Rosés are quality wines and mostly dry in style. This wine has delicate yet lively aromas of fresh raspberries and wild strawberry which follow through to the flavours. Casa Defra Rosé is crisp, light, fragrant with a nice ripe, dry (but not bone dry) finish. This is a Pinot blush with bags of flavour and length, so if you like your Rosé not too dry, but light, this could be for you.
Casa Defra (the house of the brothers) was founded in 1908 – this is not the vintage on the label! – but the proud heritage of the two families involved in the production of this wine. Cielo and Terra is a joint venture between two families, Cielo, who have been making wine in the Veneto for over a century, and the Cantina Sociale Colli Berici. Drawing on the Colli Berici’s vineyard resources, combined with the Cielo family’s winemaking skills, their partnership consistently produces wines which are fantastic value for money from both indigenous and international varietals.
Colli Berici works with many vine-growers and high standards are achieved by careful monitoring throughout the growing season. The grapes are hand-picked and upon arrival at the winery grapes are selected by type, area of origin and sugar content to ensure high quality is going into fermentation.
