Tasting Notes

a’Becketts Rams Cliff Rosé 2014 has an attractive light salmon colour and light wild strawberry and raspberry aromas. This is followed by a fresh, palate of wild strawberries, raspberries and blueberry hints. It has a good balance of fruit with a fresh finish and it makes a perfect summer aperitif at just 11.5% abv. Despite being the 2014 vintage, this Rosé is still drinking well; good for drinking this summer. 2017 vintage will be here soon.

Sporting a nice new label, this attractive and well priced English Rosé is a must-try wine. Only 2500 bottles of this rosé are made on this small, family run, ten acre vineyard; get in quick!

a’Becketts vineyards are in Littleton Panell, Wiltshire just North of Salisbury Plan. The village is overlooked by the Rams Cliff escarpment. Paul and Lynn have named this classic English Rosé after this local feature.

A delicious Rosé and a Bronze Medal winner at Decanter World Wine Awards 2015 and the English and Welsh Wine of the Year competition.

“Ideal Summer drinking…rather classy”  88/100: Decanter World Wine Awards Panel 2016

Matthew Jukes in Part 2 of his Compendium on English Wines published in the Daily Mail Weekend Magazine on 10 September wrote:-

“You only have to look back ten or fifteen years to see that reds and rosés were as thin on the ground as they were on the palate.  It’s just not sunny enough here to ripen red grapes fully, so the wines that have made this Collection are very special indeed.”

a’Becketts Rosé made this illustrious list and Matthew Jukes waxed lyrical about this wine:

“With bold strawberry-scented fruit notes, 2014 Ram’s Cliff Rosé is another worthy English rosé, so leave Provence for a moment or two and reward your palate with this fabulous wine.”  Matthew Jukes Daily Mail Weekend Magazine 10 September 2016.
