Discoveries from the Southern Hemisphere

New delights from New Zealand

So much of the Sauvignon Blanc that finds its way to the UK is mass produced and often bottled in UK, and disappoints in terms of the refined taste we came to enjoy from NZ “Savvy.”

We are keen to find family run vineyards that produce quality, distinctive wines so we are pleased to add Wairau River Reserve Sauvignon Blanc and Wairau River Reserve Pinot Noir to our Wine Shop. The Sauvignon is a classy, complex, full flavoured white which is more in the Sancerre style. The Reserve Pinot Noir is equally stunning, with an array of dark fruit aromas interlaced with dark chocolate and spice. The flavours are complex with generous fruit and a refined texture and great length, earning this terrific wine a Decanter Silver Medal.

Catch sight of a South African beauty!

From the Southern most winery in South Africa where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean off Cape Agulhas comes the aptly named First Sighting Shiraz 2017 from the Strandveld winery. Here the winds can be so strong that vineyard workers find it hard to stand up! The wine is fresh with black fruit aromas tinged with black pepper, these lead into juicy black fruit flavours and savoury tannins. This is a stylish, smooth and structured Shiraz from cool climate Elim.
