Thanks to the Anchor Bleu, Bosham and The Stags Head, Westbourne for inviting us to team up with them for a “tour of great food and wine from Spain” during November. Both events were fully booked and there was a great buzz. The noise increased with the enjoyment of the food and wine, which meant we didn’t talk too much about the wines!
Food ranged from fish dishes, to pinchos morunos (small skewers of pork with moorish spices), albondigas (spicy meat balls), conejo cazuela (rabbit casserole), patatas bravas (potatoes with spicy tomatoes) finishing up with Manchego cheese.
Topacio Cava was served as an aperitif, Peregrino Verdejo 2012 proved a popular white with fish. Our full flavoured and dry Peregrino Rosado 2012 also matched both fish and pork dishes very well indeed. Various delicious reds from the lighter organic Floral de Uncastellum 2011, to fuller reds like Cerro Añon Crianza Rioja 2010, Casa Castillo Monastrell 2011 and the elegant but burly Manga del Brujo 2011 from lesser known area of Calatayud (60% from grapes from 80 – 100 year old vines), proved great matches for the great variety of dishes.
Thanks to all who came and made both evenings very enjoyable; thank you for your orders.
